We are designers and architects developing innovative solutions for sustainable building. Together with local clients, construction professionals and artisans, we build upon our collective expertise so that all are empowered to participate in the long-term development of their communities.

Research and design work is undertaken with a team of volunteer architects, engineers, planners and other design professionals in New York City. Our research is integrated into specific design projects and distributed through publications, exhibitions and digital media. Active design projects are slated for construction in 2012 in southern Haiti. We partner with universities in the United States and internationally, international NGOs and local community groups to research and develop contextually relevant and sustainable material, building and landscaping strategies.

FAARM continues the mission of Studio Unité which was a design collaborative integrating research and education, working with local stakeholders and interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative, long-range architectural and planning solutions. Studio Unité was formed in 2010 around the need to broaden the scope of architectural design and strengthen the role of design in society. After an intensely productive year together, two separate organizations have emerged from Studio Unité to develop our work, ideas, and values.

Focus on Architecture Art Research Making, doing business as FAARM, is a 501(c)3 registered tax-exempt organization in the state of New York.
